CMS SummerView

11-14 January 2018 | Port Sorell

SU Tas partners with CMS (the Church Missionary Society) and encourages supporters to be involved in the annual CMS SummerView – a wonderful conference where participants explore God’s word and are encouraged in local and global mission.

2018 CMS SummerView Report

This year’s SummerView (11-14 January, 2018) was a great time of fellowship and learning. Approximately 190 adults and children gathered in the beautiful beachside town of Port Sorell for four days of exceptional teaching from CMS Australia staff David Williams and Peter Rodgers, missionary input from David and Prue Boyd (DR Congo) and ‘S’ (secure worker, Middle East). A stand-alone, yet co-located mission-focused camp for the youth was held, where young people enjoyed attending the missionary sessions, before spending informal time with the missionaries over some meals.

Crèche and children’s programs allowed parents to take time out to learn from the books of Ruth and Luke and we were challenged to keep supporting local and global mission through praying, caring, giving and going. SU Tas CEO Ruth Pinkerton was also able to lead several sessions and encourage people in mission work in Tasmania.

Craig – ‘The whole conference was exceptional.’

Ian – ‘Wonderful teaching and so informative.’

James – ‘David’s teaching on Ruth was outstanding, taking us deeper into that story than we had been before.’

Zara [aged 12] – ‘The Youth Camp was awesome.  It was great to meet S and learn about her work in the Middle East’.
